The Subclass 600 Visitor Visa covers tourism, family visits, business activities and short courses up to 12 weeks. It is the standard visit visa for most non-eVisitor and non-ETA passport holders.
About Visitor Visa (Subclass 600).
The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) is the all-purpose visit visa for international travellers to Australia. It is issued in four streams — Tourist, Sponsored Family, Business Visitor and Approved Destination Status — with single or multiple-entry grants.
Visitor visa holders may study or train for up to three months, attend business meetings, conferences and conventions, and visit family. Paid work is not permitted under any stream.
Tourist stream
Holiday, family visits and recreational travel. Standard 3, 6 or 12-month grants.
Business Visitor
Conference attendance, contract negotiation, on-site inspections. Up to 90 days per entry.
Sponsored Family
An Australian relative sponsors the visitor — often used for first-time visits with security bond.
Approved Destination Status
Group tourism stream from China; lodged via approved travel agents.

Recommended for tourist stream; mandatory for Sponsored Family stream applicants.
Health requirement
Health examination not usually required unless from a higher-risk country or for visits over six months.
Character requirement
No previous visa refusals; police clearance not standard but may be requested.
Onward travel evidence
Return ticket or evidence of onward travel; itinerary of intended activities.
