Skills in Demand Visa
The Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) Visa allows Australian employers to sponsor skilled workers for occupations they cannot fill locally. The visa has three streams (Short-term, Medium-term, Labour Agreement) with the Medium-term offering the strongest PR pathway.
About Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482).
The Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482) is sponsored by an Australian employer with Standard Business Sponsorship. The Medium-term stream applies to occupations on the MLTSSL and provides a direct path to permanent residency via Subclass 186 after three years of service.
The Short-term stream applies to STSOL occupations and is renewable once. The Labour Agreement stream covers occupations and conditions negotiated under specific industry agreements.
Medium-term stream
MLTSSL occupations, four-year duration, pathway to permanent residence via 186 after three years.
Short-term stream
STSOL occupations, two-year duration, renewable once. No PR pathway from short-term.
Labour Agreement stream
Occupations and concessions negotiated under industry-specific labour agreements (DAMA, ICT, restaurant).
